The Water Facility is dedicated to providing its customers with a safe, high quality, and reliable water supply that meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water requirements. Currently pumping approximately one billion gallons annually, our goal is to treat and distribute our product efficiently while maintaining and upgrading the system to meet future demands. We are also committed to providing professional and courteous customer service to our residents. In addition to water treatment and distribution, other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Sample collection and analysis.
- Maintenance of nine remote facilities.
- Maintenance of 5 Water Storage Tanks
- The acceptance process of newly constructed water mains.
- Metering - reading, and maintaining.
- Backflow protection program.
- Customer service.
- Pump and equipment maintenance and repair.
2010/2011 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Provided training for our employees, which enabled them to obtain/maintain their water operators license.
- Received our 24th consecutive commendation from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Public Health for monitoring and maintaining the proper fluoride levels in the drinking water. Currently only six communities in the state have a longer consecutive streak than Carpentersville.
- Continuing the installation of a fixed based meter read system which will be installed over an extended period.
- Managed the sampling and acceptance of new water main and punch list items (Buffalo Boxes) during the capital improvement projects.
- Managed the sampling and acceptance of new construction water mains.
- Successfully entered into an intergovernmental agreement with West Dundee for the purpose of providing an interconnection between the two Village’s water systems.
- Applied for and received a $30,000 grant through the Riverboat Grant program for the purpose of constructing and interconnection between the Villages of West Dundee and Carpentersville’s water system.
- Successfully entered into a professional service agreement with Baxter Woodman for the purpose of design and construction management of the interconnection between West Dundee and the Village of Carpentersville water systems.
- Successfully entered into a professional service agreement with Baxter Woodman for the purpose of conducting a sewer & water rate study.
2011/2012 OBJECTIVES
- Continue to provide training and support for our employees.
- Receive our twenty-fifth consecutive commendation for monitoring and maintaining the proper fluoride levels in the drinking water.
- Maintain water quality that meets or exceeds state and federal regulations.
- Continue to maintain all buildings and equipment to minimize maintenance costs.
- Successfully bid and award a contract for waste pump inspections
- Bid and award a contract for the construction of the West Dundee and Carpentersville Interconnect
- Bid and award a contract for the painting of the Randall Road Water Tower.
- Continue to provide professional and courteous services to our residents.
- Continue the installation of fixed based meter read system.
