PUBLIC WORKS — WATER DIVISION

The Water Facility is dedicated to providing its customers with a safe, high quality, and reliable water supply that meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water requirements. Currently pumping over one billion gallons annually, our goal is to treat and distribute our product efficiently while maintaining and upgrading the system to meet future demands. We are also committed to providing professional and courteous customer service to our residents. In addition to water treatment and distribution, other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Sample collection and analysis.
  2. Maintenance of eight remote facilities.
  3. Maintenance of 5 Water Storage Tanks.
  4. Acceptance process of newly constructed water mains.
  5. Metering, reading, and maintaining.
  6. Backflow protection program.
  7. Customer service.
  8. Pump and equipment maintenance and repair.
2008/2009 ACCOMPLISHMENTS  
  1. Provided training for Employees, enabling them to maintain their water operators license.
  2. Received 22nd consecutive commendation from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Public Health for monitoring and maintaining the proper fluoride levels in the drinking water. There are only six communities in the state that have a longer consecutive streak than Carpentersville.
  3. Initiate a fixed based meter read system and install over a 6-year period.
  4. Completed outside cleaning of three water storage tanks.
  5. Managed the sampling of new water main during the capital improvement projects.
  6. Successfully secured a contract for Well 5 inspection.
  7. Successfully secured a contract for the repair roof at Well 7.
  8. Successfully secured a contract for the exterior cleaning of 2 water tanks.
2009/2010 OBJECTIVES
  1. Continue to provide training and support to Employees.
  2. Receive our twenty-third consecutive commendation for monitoring and maintaining the proper fluoride levels in the drinking water.
  3. Maintain water quality that meets or exceeds state and federal regulations.
  4. Continue to maintain all buildings and equipment to minimize maintenance costs.
  5. Successfully bid and award contract for well inspection.
  6. Continue to provide professional and courteous services to Residents.
  7. Install 1975 meters as part of the meter change out program (staffing dependent).
