The Wastewater Facilities Division of Public Works is dedicated to safeguarding the environment and public health by maintaining the highest level of treatment at the lowest attainable cost for the residents of Carpentersville. It is our goal to continually improve by applying new technology and providing professional and courteous customer service to our residents.
In addition to wastewater treatment, other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Sample collection and analysis.
- Maintenance of building and equipment within the Main Plant and 12 remote facilities.
- Industrial discharge monitoring.
- Bio-solids production and disposal.
2010/2011 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Maintained wastewater discharge quality that exceeded state and federal regulations.
- As a result of an EPA Compliance Evaluation Inspection our facility was found to be in compliance with all water pollution regulations
- Continued to monitor and enforce Village ordinances pertaining to commercial and industrial inflows.
- Continued to implement maintenance procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and preserve Village assets.
- Repaired a third aeration shaft assembly on Oxidation Ditch.
- Maintained substantial odor reduction of Main Plant bio-solids.
- Reduced required IEPA sludge testing frequency through improved process control and digested sludge stabilization.
- Replaced one rotary lobe blower for the aerobic digestion process.
- Installed electrical connection of a flow meter for one lift station.
- Accepted control and responsibility for one new lift station located in the Winchester Glen Subdivision.
- Reduced city water used at the WWTF by 50%.
- Replaced dewatering belts on both filter presses.
- Replaced 40% of the aging effluent disinfection piping system.
- Re-implemented the lift station inspection program.
- Successfully secured a contract for Bio-solids disposal.
2011/2012 OBJECTIVES
- Continue to monitor and enhance facility processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Continue to monitor and regulate present and future commercial and industrial inflows.
- Continue to provide training and support for our employees.
- Continue to maintain facility and lift station equipment and infrastructure.
