| PUBLIC WORKS — WASTEWATER DIVISION
The Wastewater Facilities Division of Public Works is dedicated to safeguarding the environment and public health by maintaining the highest level of treatment at the lowest attainable cost for the residents of Carpentersville. It is our goal to continually improve by applying new technology and providing professional and courteous customer service to our residents.
In addition to wastewater treatment, other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Sample collection and analysis.
- Maintenance of building and equipment within the Main Plant and twelve remote facilities.
- Industrial discharge monitoring.
- Sludge production and disposal.
2008/2009 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Maintained wastewater discharge quality that met or exceeded state and federal regulations.
- Continued to monitor and enforce Village ordinances pertaining to commercial and industrial inflows.
- Continued to implement maintenance procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and preserve Village assets.
- Repaired/replaced one aeration shaft assembly on Oxidation Ditch.
- Revised lift station inspection program.
- Maintained proper operation and effluent standards during record-high influent flow event.
- Substantially reduced year-over pump maintenance costs through increased monitoring of lift stations.
- Initiated sludge odor-reducing measures.
- Complying with stricter limits of new NPDES Permit.
- Successfully secured a contract for Bio Solids disposal.
2009/2010 OBJECTIVES
- Continue to monitor and enhance facility processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Continue to monitor and regulate present and future commercial and industrial inflows.
- Continue to provide training and support for our employees.
- Continue to maintain and improve facility and lift station equipment and infrastructure.
