PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of the Village infrastructure such as streets, water and sewer lines, potable water and wastewater treatment, and performs various engineering and construction tasks. There are four Divisions within the Public Works Department: Streets, Water, Wastewater, and Underground.
In-House Road Repair Program
As the construction season approaches, the Village of Carpentersville Public Works Department (Street Division) is gearing up to make road repairs. Several pieces of equipment purchased within the last year have enabled Village crews to make repairs that will last longer and improve the roadway system.
Two pieces of equipment in particular will be seen throughout the community this season. A milling machine, or road grinder, will grind old deteriorated asphalt from the roadway surface making room for a new smooth surface course of asphalt. The asphalt will be spread by a commercial grade asphalt paver. You can also watch the progress of the road repair program.

An in-house paving project on Maple Avenue will cause a road closure on June 17th (June 18th as rain date) between Oak Ridge Road and Wilmette Avenue from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Traffic, including trucks, will be detoured to Lake Marian Road and then west to Washington Street. All affected businesses have been notifed.
