How can I contact the Carpentersville Police Department?
In an emergency, call 9-1-1 for police, fire or medical services. A trained operator will answer your call and provide you with assistance. For non-emergency Police assistance, call 847-428-8784.
To speak with department employees or obtain information about department services and programs, call 847-551-3481 Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
You may also visit the Police Department in person at Village Hall located at 1200 L.W. Besinger Drive. Residents living west of the Fox River may meet with an officer at the Fire Station located at 5000 Sleepy Hollow Road depending on availability.
How do I obtain a copy of a report I filed?
Most police reports are available two business days after making the report. A copy may be obtained by coming to the Police Department Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. There is a 25 cent per page charge for incidents and a $5.00 charge for traffic crash reports. Other information may require a Freedom of Information Request (FOIA) or subpoena.
What are the regulations for overnight parking?
There is a half hour limit for on street parking between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Parking is also prohibited any time after
a 1-inch or more snowfall until the street has been plowed.
What if I have a parking emergency or other unusual circumstances?
Residents may call 847-428-8784 to request permission to park for one night. Permission is at the discretion of the on duty police supervisor.
Do I have to have a village vehicle sticker for my car?
All vehicles owned or stored within the Village require a vehicle sticker. Vehicle stickers are sold at Village Hall and can be renewed on-line. All tags must be displayed by July 1st and expire June 30th every year. For more information click here.
Do I need an animal license for my pet?
All dogs are required to have a pet license attached to their collar when out of the home. Pet licenses cost $3.00 and are available at the Finance Department.
What is the curfew law in Carpentersville?
Persons under the age of 17 may not be present in any public place between 12:01 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, unless married, accompanied by an adult, or engaged in employment, religious, political, or other constitutionally protected activity.
What is the speed limit on a residential street in Carpentersville?
The speed limit on most residential streets, unless otherwise posted, is 25 miles per hour.
What is the loud noise ordinance in Carpentersville?
Loud noise as defined by Carpentersville village ordinance is any noise or sound that is considered harmful or otherwise disturbing to another. Violators may be subject to a $100 fine and/or an appearance in local court.
Where do I go to pay a ticket?
You may pay any parking or ordinance citation (those starting with a “C”) at the Finance Department in the Carpentersville Village Hall. Moving violations must be paid at the Kane County Circuit Clerk’s office at the old Montgomery Ward building on Randall Road in St. Charles.

How do I request an officer to attend my homeowner’s association meeting?
You may request an officer attend a homeowner’s or other community meeting by contacting the Community Response Team supervisor at the general police department number.
