Utility Billing Clerk

The Village of Carpentersville is seeking a full-time, experienced Utility Billing Clerk. This position will perform a variety of utility billing functions, including all processes relating to the generation of utility bills. This position will also be responsible for maintenance of customer files, answering customer inquiries, scheduling work orders, maintaining promissory note payment schedules, preparing shut off notices, running reports to verify accuracy of information and preparing related reports as needed.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or G.E.D, supplemented by completion of approved college-level course work in accounting, business, finance or a related field. MUNIS billing software experience is preferred.

Minimum starting pay is $19.78 hour. The Village of Carpentersville offers a competitive benefits’ package.

Finance Director

The Village of Carpentersville, Illinois, population of 37,690, a full-service community located in northeastern Kane County, Illinois, approximately 30 miles northwest of Chicago, seeks a creative public finance executive to serve as its next Finance Director. The Village has a $55 million budget and 175 full-time employees, of which more than two-thirds are police, fire and public works. The Finance Director supervises five full-time and two part-time positions. The Finance Director is an integral part of the executive management team participating in key decisions regarding economic development, strategic planning, long- and short-term revenue and expenditure strategies, budget development and administration, and all policies affecting the overall fiscal health of the Village. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in finance, public policy, public administration, business, or a related field. A master’s degree in public policy, public administration, finance or business administration is highly desired. CPA or CPFO a plus. Candidates must have at least five years of increasingly responsible experience in executive-level financial administration in the public sector or in a field closely related to the public sector. The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative, experienced executive with a proven track record in progressive fiscal management, with the ability to work closely with elected and appointed officials and department heads on the Village’s financial strategies.
