Mission Statement
The Carpentersville Improvement Commission pledges to assist residents to understand the importance of property maintenance as it pertains to the general welfare, safety and aesthetics of our community.
Our objective is to preserve existing housing through code enforcement activities and
preventative maintenance programming. We are committed to research all avenues of county,
state and federal financial resources and to assemble these along with local resources to educate and aid our residents in improving their neighborhoods.
Overview
The CIC presents three community projects to benefit Carpentersville residents and the neighborhoods in which they live — Paint-a-Thon, Graffiti Deterrent and Adopt-a-Block.
These services are provided through the generosity of our volunteers and community donations. Please help us make a difference in Carpentersville — contact us today to get involved.
Paint-a-Thon
This event occurs annually on the second Saturday of September. If you are a homeowner with a limited income that needs help getting your house and/or garage painted, please apply to be part of the Paint-a-Thon.
Volunteers are also needed to form or be a part of a 12-15 member team of painters who generously spend the day painting.
This is a very rewarding project, not only for the homeowners, but also for everyone who volunteers to paint or who donates the paint, supplies, lunch or drinks.

Graffiti Deterrent
The purpose of this project is to eliminate graffiti canvasses by blocking access to highly visible and blank garage or house walls or fences that keep getting "tagged". This is accomplished by installing shrubs and other landscaping features that obstruct the desirability of a wall.
Residents that are victims of vandalism can receive a special discount with partnering landscape nurseries.
Homeowners who are tired of painting over or cleaning off graffiti and are unable to provide a solution on their own, are eligible to participate in this program.
Adopt-a-Block
The Carpentersville Improvement Commission is looking for neighborhoods to joint the Adopt-a-Block project. The CIC will help empower residents to transform their neighborhood into a community by bringing together neighbors who have common interests of building and improving the appearance, image, vitality and safety of their block.
Projects for Adopt-a-Block neighborhoods might include having a block party, quickly removing and reporting graffiti, adopt an abandoned property or installing landscaping at key entries into their neighborhoods.
