The Village Manager’s Office is responsible for administering programs and policies and implementing goals and objectives established by the Village Board. It is the Village Manager’s responsibility to direct, plan, organize, and coordinate the operations of all Village departments and to inform the Village Board on Village affairs, including current conditions and future requirements. All Village departments are under the administrative direction and supervision of the Village Manager. The Village Manager ensures that all departments are in compliance with Village Board goals and objectives.
2009/2010 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Continued to oversee and work with the Village’s Finance Department and Audit and Finance Commission to adjust internal controls and operations to meet auditing standards for timeliness and proper reporting .
- Continued to oversee the development of the new Public Works Facility by entering into an architectural and construction management services agreement. Building design is nearing completion.
- Right-of-Way property acquisition was completed and Miller Road was reconstructed.
- Implemented a new Village-wide safety program, including an Executive Safety Committee for accident review, and decreased the Village’s overall accident rate and cost.
- Continued contract negotiations with Metropolitan Alliance of Police, Chapter #378Patrol, and Metropolitan Alliance of Police, Chapter #379 Sergeants.
2010/2011 OBJECTIVES
- Continue to oversee and work with the Village’s Finance Department and Audit and Finance Commission to adjust internal controls and operations to meet auditing standards for timeliness and proper reporting.
- Per Village Board approval complete the construction drawings necessary to bid out and construct the Public Works Facility.
- Continue to work with the Village’s insurance broker, risk management consultant and third party administrator to comprehensively update the Village’s safety programs and risk management procedures in order to continue to keep accidents and costs down.
- Complete contract negotiations, including concession bargaining, with the Metropolitan Alliance of Police, Chapter #378 Patrol, and Metropolitan Alliance of Police, Chapter #379 Sergeants.
- Complete concession bargaining with the Village’s labor unions in order to further decrease overall personnel costs for Village services in the 2010/2011 Budget.
