Firefighter - Village of Carpentersville
The Fire and Police Commission will be conducting a MANDATORY
orientation session on:

Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have a High School
Diploma or equivalent, State Certified Fire Fighter II and EMT-B
Certification, (EMT-P Certification at time of hire). Bilingual
applicants encouraged to apply.
Candidates will be required to
pass written and oral examination.
Residency Requirements: Must
reside within 40 miles of the Village limits within one year of the date
of hire.
Preference points will be given during the testing
process for Military and Education as allowed by law.
Starting
Salary $55,103.00

Engineering Intern
The Village of Carpentersville, Illinois, has an immediate need for
an Engineering Intern within the Engineering Division of the Community
Development Department.
This position will be providing
full-time, temporary (40 hours per week, no overtime) for no more than
12 weeks. Tasks could include construction observation, construction
documentation, and field survey work associated with roadway and utility
project; as well as minor general office tasks. The intern could work
with other department and consultant staff.
Minimum requirements
include: current student or recent graduate with course study in Civil
Engineering or Construction Management, computer skills including
knowledge of Microsoft Office and a valid driver's license.
This
is a short-term employment position without benefits. The work period is
from date of hire to no more than 12 weeks.
Hourly pay range
between $10.00 and $10.75 per hour depending on experience and
qualifications.

Payroll Administrator (formerly listed as Payroll Specialist)
The Village of Carpentersville is seeking a full-time, experienced
Payroll Administrator. This position must keep current with all changing
tax laws and regulations concerning payroll administration and personnel
recordkeeping and is expected to develop improvements in the payroll
administration and personnel recordkeeping systems in order to reduce
costs and increase efficiency and accuracy. This position will perform a
variety of payroll functions in connection with the processing of
payroll checks for Village employees and will complete all state and
federal payroll filing requirements according to specified deadlines.
This position works closely with the Human Resources Department to
ensure accurate processing regarding wage deductions for health
insurance, pensions, and other benefits offered by the Village and
develops improvements in the Village's systems affecting wages and
benefits to improve the Village's position in collective bargaining
negotiations.
Duties include processing payroll on a bi-weekly
basis; preparing payroll/benefit journal entries; setting up and sending
all ACH direct deposits; ensuring that payroll taxes are sent to the
appropriate state and federal agencies; completing 941 and 501 reports
according to specified deadlines; wiring dollars and sending reports
monthly to IMRF; tracking benefit time through the Village's financial
software (MUNIS); providing customer service to employees by answering
questions regarding policies and procedures; responding to employment
verification and court-ordered garnishment requests; recording all
changes in accordance with the Employer's Tax Guide (circular E);
tracking and recording all collective bargaining agreement changes;
reconciling and completing year-end W-2s; and assisting with
front-counter customer service and cash receipt batching.
Requirements for this position include a minimum of 5 years' recent
experience administering payroll; excellent communication and
interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidential information;
proficiency in Microsoft office; demonstrated work ethic, integrity, and
professional conduct; good organizational, follow through, and time
management skills; excellent attention to detail; and a friendly,
positive, and helpful attitude. Candidate must possess a bachelor's
degree or an equivalent combination of education/certification and
experience. Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional is
required within two years of hire. MUNIS experience and ability to speak
Spanish are desirable.
Starting pay is $19.84 +/- depending on
qualifications. The Village of Carpentersville offers a competitive
