Full-time Firefighter / Paramedic

The Carpentersville Board of Fire and Police Commission is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter / Paramedic.

All applications must be completed, and submitted no later than 5 pm on Friday, August 29, 2014 to the Office of the Deputy Chief, Fire Station One, 213 Spring Street, Carpentersville, Illinois, 60110.  Questions may be directed to (847) 426-2131.


·       U.S. Citizen;

·       Have no felony convictions;

·       Minimum age of 21 or maximum age of 35 at time of appointment, unless otherwise exempt by state statute;

·       Must have a high school diploma or GED;

·       Illinois Firefighter II (basic) State Certification;

·       Be licensed as an Illinois EMT / Paramedic at time of appointment.

Include with your application copies of the following:  

·       *Transcript of high school grades, and copy of diploma or GED / College transcripts or degrees;

·       State certifications (Illinois Firefighter II from OSFM) (EMT-B or P from IDPH);

·       Driver’s license (photocopy);

·       Military – copy of discharge (DD 214);

·       Authorization for release of information;

·       CPAT certificate, which will include a ladder climb, within the past 12 months prior to the last date for filing application.

*Sealed transcripts must be forwarded to the Office of the Deputy Chief or turned in prior to written test at 9 am.

Testing process:

Applicant will be expected to appear at the place, date and time scheduled.  If you are not present at the time scheduled, you will not be allowed to participate and will not be considered for employment.

Customer Service Clerk (Part-time)

The Village of Carpentersville has an immediate opening for a part-time (approximately 20 to 30 hours per week) Customer Service Clerk to join its Finance Department.

This position performs a variety of functions relating to customer service and the processing of daily cash receipts. Candidate must have some knowledge of the principles and practices of bookkeeping, be able to perform arithmetic computations and tabulations rapidly and accurately, and be able to provide outstanding customer service and interact with a diverse group of people in providing answers to questions regarding water billing, ticketing, permitting and other Village information. Candidate should also possess a strong ability to multitask. Some knowledge of the MUNIS accounting system and basic MS Office Suite, including but not limited to Excel and Word, is a plus.

Completion of approved college-level course work in accounting, business, finance or a related field and fluency in Spanish are highly desired. Candidate must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. or have graduated from an approved vocational school, supplemented by at least two years of responsible experience in the areas described above.

Starting pay is $13.42 hour.
